With just over a week to go till Senior Registrations close please get in quickly to make sure you are part of this exciting adventure for West Brisbane Falcons.
We have had a few questions over the past week so we thought we would put together an information package that will help you in your decision to register with us. Please see the FAQ’s below.
Please remember all players (Male & Female) who wish to play Senior Social or GBL Basketball need to be registered by Friday October 30.

SENIOR BASKETBALL FAQ
What fees do I need to pay?
Club membership fees:
- are a one off annual fee
- must be paid when the player registers with the club each year
- cover the cost of team nominations, training court hire & club trophies
- cost $55.00 (Inc GST) per player, per annum
- can be paid via credit card or direct bank transfer *

Payment confirmation must be emailed to westbrisbanebasketball@hotmail.com
Brisbane Basketball Inc. (BBI) fees:
- are a one off annual fee
- must be paid online prior to the player playing their first game in 2016*
- cover the cost of insurance for a player in the event of an injury
- are not set, administered or regulated by the West Brisbane Falcons Club
* A link to the BBI player registration will be emailed to all members once released by BBI.
Game fees:
- for social competitions are currently $95.00 per team (subject to change by BBI)
- for GBL competitions are currently $125.00 per team (subject to change by BBI)
- cover the cost of court hire, score bench persons & two qualified referees
- are divided evenly between players and paid prior to the game start time
- must be paid in full at the BBI front counter or canteen prior to game start time
- must be paid by all players regardless of game attendance unless a minimum of 24hrs notice is given*
- that are not paid and are recorded by BBI as a “Forfeit” may incur a forfeit fine**
* If a player does not provide the minimum notice of unavailability and refuses to pay the required game fee they will not be eligible to play until such time as the outstanding game fee/s are paid. If a player does not notify the a team representative of their unavailability to play on more than three (3) occasions then the player may be replaced by another player and the offending player allocated “RESERVE” status, and remain in this status until such time as another permanent playing spot becomes available.
** Should the team that you play for “Forfeit” a game without giving the club three (3) days notice and a Forfeit Fine is issued by BBI then the amount due will be required to be paid by the team.
What are the uniform requirements?
Club playing shorts:
- are required to be worn by all players during all games
- cost $35.00 and can only be ordered and payment made directly to the Clubs uniform supplier*

Club playing singlets:
- are required to be worn by all players during games
- are reversible with the main colour being ‘white & red’ and the reversible colour being ‘black & red’
- can be ordered and paid for by players with their own custom name and number at a cost of $66.00*, an ‘Early Bird Special’ price has been negotiated with our supplier for all orders submitted by 30/10/15, this ‘Early Bird Special’ cost per singlet will be $55.00
- will be supplied by the club on a loan basis until a custom uniform is purchased by the player

Club merchandise:
- includes team training singlets, t-shirts, warm-up tops, socks, pullover hoddie and sports bags (all optional)
- can be ordered from the Clubs uniform supplier*

What nights and divisions can I play?
Sunday night:
- Men’s 1, Men’s 2, Men’s3, Men’s 4, Men’s 5, Men’s 6, Women’s
Monday night:
- Men’s 1, Men’s 2, Men’s 3, Men’s 4 and Women’s
Tuesday night:
- GBL Silver Men, GBL Silver Women, Men’s 1, Men’s 2 and Women’s
Wednesday night:
- GBL Men’s Gold, Under 23 Men’s, GBL Women’s Gold, Men’s Super Vets & Veteran’s (Over 35s)
Thursday night:
- Men’s 1, Men’s 2, Men’s 3, Men’s 4, and Women’s
Am I required to attend team training?
U23 Men, GBL Gold/Silver Men & Women teams:
- will have a regular weekly training sessions as set by their team coach
- are required to have all players attend all training sessions unless a player has a reasonable excuse*
* Players who cannot attend regular training sessions or do not provide their coach with suitable notice that they are unable to attend a particular training session will subject to the Clubs ‘Senior Training Policy’ and may be replaced by another eligible squad member.
Social teams:
- are invited to attend a whole of club scrimmage/training session
Can I play in any annual tournaments?
Tournament:
- details will be announced on the website & calls for nominations sent out via email and facebook
- participation will be open to all players and genders
- participation may have age restrictions and nomination will be subject to tournament rules
- team nomination costs will be divided by the number of players participating
Current list of tournaments include:
- Australia Day Tournament (Maroochydore) – 23-26 January
- East Coast Challenge, over 30’s (Cornubia) 30 April – 2 May
- Gold Coast Challenge (Runaway Bay) – 30 April – 1 May
- Byron Bay Carnival (Byron Bay) – 9-11 September
Can I win a trophy?
Club trophy day:
- will be held at the end of the year
- will include catering for all registered players
- will include a presentation to each team with a Team Award for the second season of the year*
- each team participating in the first season each year will also have a Team Award to present at the end of that season
* A Team Award will also be presented to each team for the first season of the year however this will occur immediately after the first season ends.
BBI Grand Final:
- teams winning their competition are provide with a trophy by BBI to each eligible team member
- teams who are runners up in their competition will also be provided by BBI with a trophy to each eligible team member
